Bateman*\/<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>La cuenca del r\u00edo Guatiqu\u00eda nace en el p\u00e1ramo de Chingaza y se extiende a trav\u00e9s del piedemonte llanero colombiano, que abastece de agua a miles de personas y, al mismo tiempo, enfrenta una fuerte presi\u00f3n por el crecimiento urbano, el cambio de uso del suelo y las lluvias intensas. Cuesta abajo, las poblaciones de Villavicencio, Restrepo y Puerto L\u00f3pez han sufrido fuertes inundaciones por el desbordamiento del r\u00edo Guatiqu\u00eda, lo que plantea un reto importante para la gesti\u00f3n integral del territorio.<sup>1<\/sup><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Con el objetivo de identificar zonas vulnerables a inundaciones, este estudio integr\u00f3 informaci\u00f3n sobre el relieve, la humedad del terreno, la respuesta del suelo al agua, las lluvias extremas y la densidad de poblaci\u00f3n. A trav\u00e9s de una relaci\u00f3n estad\u00edstica con zonas hist\u00f3ricamente inundadas, se construy\u00f3 un mapa de vulnerabilidad ambiental a inundaciones, con una visi\u00f3n actualizada y replicable de alto detalle, que colma un vac\u00edo de informaci\u00f3n en las cuencas andinas tropicales.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Los resultados muestran que la mayor vulnerabilidad se concentra en la parte media y baja de la cuenca, donde confluyen varias condiciones desfavorables: pendientes m\u00e1s suaves, suelos con menor capacidad de infiltraci\u00f3n, acumulaci\u00f3n de humedad y presencia de zonas urbanas y agr\u00edcolas. Adem\u00e1s, all\u00ed se observan lluvias intensas y persistentes que incrementan la probabilidad de inundaci\u00f3n. En contraste, la parte alta de la cuenca presenta una menor vulnerabilidad, gracias a una mayor cobertura forestal, suelos m\u00e1s permeables e inclinados y pocos asentamientos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Uno de los hallazgos m\u00e1s importantes es que la expansi\u00f3n urbana y la transformaci\u00f3n del paisaje est\u00e1n incrementando la vulnerabilidad en la cuenca, lo que, ante futuras amenazas, elevar\u00e1 el riesgo en las zonas m\u00e1s pobladas. Cuando se reemplazan las coberturas naturales por superficies impermeables, el agua escurre m\u00e1s r\u00e1pido y el terreno pierde su capacidad de absorberla. Esto hace que sectores ya sensibles se vuelvan a\u00fan m\u00e1s vulnerables.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Desde la gesti\u00f3n territorial, estos resultados constituyen una base \u00fatil para orientar las decisiones de ordenamiento y adaptaci\u00f3n. En las zonas de mayor vulnerabilidad, se requiere frenar la ocupaci\u00f3n de las rondas h\u00eddricas y las planicies de inundaci\u00f3n, fortalecer la restauraci\u00f3n de coberturas vegetales, promover la infraestructura verde y mejorar los sistemas de alerta temprana. En la parte alta, la prioridad debe ser la conservaci\u00f3n de los ecosistemas que regulan el agua y sostienen la estabilidad hidrol\u00f3gica de toda la cuenca.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>En conjunto, este trabajo muestra que reducir el riesgo de inundaci\u00f3n no depende solo de la lluvia, sino tambi\u00e9n de c\u00f3mo ocupamos y transformamos el territorio.
