En un contexto de retroceso de glaciares de hielo, son indicadores del permafrost y pueden albergar reservas \u201cocultas\u201d de hielo con inter\u00e9s hidrol\u00f3gico.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>En el Per\u00fa, el conocimiento sobre d\u00f3nde est\u00e1n y c\u00f3mo son estos cuerpos era fragmentario y se basaba principalmente en estudios locales. Para cerrar esta brecha desarrollamos el Peruvian Rock Glacier Inventory v1.0 (PRoGI v1.0): el primer inventario nacional completo de glaciares rocosos de los Andes peruanos, construido con m\u00e9todos estandarizados y alineado con las directrices del grupo <em>Rock Glacier Inventories and Kinematics (RGIK) de la International Permafrost Association.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>PRoGI v1.0 se elabor\u00f3 mediante interpretaci\u00f3n visual de im\u00e1genes satelitales de alta resoluci\u00f3n (principalmente Bing Maps con fechas cercanas a 2024, complementadas con Google Earth con fechas cercanas a 2017 cuando fue necesario) y un mapeo sistem\u00e1tico para asegurar cobertura homog\u00e9nea. Para cada glaciar rocoso delineamos un pol\u00edgono, asignamos una clase de actividad (activo, transicional o relicto) basada en criterios geomorfol\u00f3gicos y caracterizamos su geometr\u00eda. Para reducir la subjetividad, el inventario fue mapeado por un equipo de cinco cart\u00f3grafos y revisado por 16 especialistas; los casos dudosos se resolvieron por consenso y se evalu\u00f3 la incertidumbre del delineamiento.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>El resultado identifica 2338 glaciares rocosos que cubren un \u00e1rea total de 94.09\u00b10.05 km\u00b2. Aproximadamente 31% se clasifican como activos, 49% como transicionales y 20% como relictos. La distribuci\u00f3n es muy desigual: la mayor densidad se concentra en el sur del Per\u00fa (especialmente en la subregi\u00f3n clim\u00e1tica Southern Dry Outer Tropics), mientras que el centro y el norte presentan menor presencia. Cerca de tres cuartas partes del inventario se concentran entre ~4800 y 5200 m s.n.m. Las pendientes promedian ~20.7\u00b0 (rango 7\u201337\u00b0) y predominan orientaciones hacia el sur (sur, sureste y suroeste). El l\u00edmite inferior del permafrost, inferido por los frentes m\u00e1s bajos de glaciares rocosos activos, alcanza ~3541 m s.n.m.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>Adem\u00e1s de los contornos, PRoGI v1.0 incorpora atributos topogr\u00e1ficos y clim\u00e1ticos por unidad (por ejemplo, elevaci\u00f3n, pendiente, orientaci\u00f3n, temperatura media anual del aire, precipitaci\u00f3n anual y radiaci\u00f3n solar potencial), lo que facilita an\u00e1lisis de controles ambientales y su uso en modelaci\u00f3n de permafrost y evaluaci\u00f3n hidrol\u00f3gica.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Los datos est\u00e1n disponibles p\u00fablicamente en el repositorio PANGAEA en formatos GIS (geopackages) y como tabla CSV, bajo licencia CC BY 4.0. Dado que la clasificaci\u00f3n de actividad se basa en morfolog\u00eda observada en im\u00e1genes entre 2017 y 2025, futuras versiones podr\u00e1n integrar mediciones de movimiento (p. ej., InSAR) y validaciones en terreno para refinar el estado de actividad y documentar cambios a lo largo del tiempo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"880\" height=\"1024\" src=\"https:\/\/www.andex-rhp.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/RG_mapa-880x1024.png\" alt=\"Figura.
