Este estudio analiz\u00f3 la evoluci\u00f3n hist\u00f3rica y los impactos recientes de la sequ\u00eda en la cuenca de aporte a la estaci\u00f3n hidrol\u00f3gica Tamshiyacu (721 262 km\u00b2; Per\u00fa), un punto estrat\u00e9gico que representa aproximadamente el 16% de la descarga total del r\u00edo Amazonas.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dicha investigaci\u00f3n integr\u00f3 datos de caudales in situ (1984-2024), precipitaci\u00f3n satelital (CHIRPS) y anomal\u00edas de almacenamiento de agua terrestre (GRACE\/GRACE-FO).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A partir del an\u00e1lisis hist\u00f3rico se identific\u00f3 cambios preocupantes a largo plazo. La temporada de crecidas del r\u00edo est\u00e1 comenzando cada vez m\u00e1s tarde, con un retraso promedio de 12 d\u00edas por d\u00e9cada. Simult\u00e1neamente, se observ\u00f3 una disminuci\u00f3n significativa en el caudal durante la temporada de estiaje (-116.3 m3s-1a\u00f1o-1). Estas tendencias configuran un escenario de menor disponibilidad h\u00eddrica que exacerba los impactos de los eventos extremos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>En este contexto, la sequ\u00eda de 2022-2024 se ha posicionado como un evento sin precedentes en los \u00faltimos 40 a\u00f1os. El estudio confirma lo siguiente:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Duraci\u00f3n e Intensidad R\u00e9cord:<\/strong> la sequ\u00eda persisti\u00f3 durante <strong>24 meses consecutivos<\/strong>, superando en duraci\u00f3n e intensidad a la severa sequ\u00eda de 2010.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Caudales cr\u00edticamente bajos:<\/strong> Para agosto de 2024, el caudal del r\u00edo disminuy\u00f3 por debajo de los 10,000<strong> <\/strong>m3s-1, afectando la navegaci\u00f3n, los ecosistemas y las actividades humanas.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Agotamiento del agua almacenada:<\/strong> Las anomal\u00edas de almacenamiento de agua terrestre alcanzaron sus niveles m\u00e1s bajos registrados (inferiores a -15 cm de altura de agua equivalente), evidenciando un agotamiento tanto de aguas superficiales como subterr\u00e1neas.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Esta sequ\u00eda extrema estuvo relacionada con d\u00e9ficits de lluvias, asociadas al paso de un episodio de La Ni\u00f1a a El Ni\u00f1o, junto con un calentamiento inusual del oc\u00e9ano Atl\u00e1ntico tropical.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Los resultados muestran que la Amazon\u00eda occidental est\u00e1 enfrentando escenarios con menos agua y sequ\u00edas m\u00e1s prolongadas, lo que representa una amenaza directa para la seguridad h\u00eddrica, los ecosistemas y las poblaciones de la regi\u00f3n Andes-Amazon\u00eda.
