A\u00fan se desconoce qu\u00e9 mecanismos f\u00edsicos conectan los modos de variabilidad atl\u00e1nticos con la humedad del suelo, la radiaci\u00f3n neta y la evaporaci\u00f3n terrestre (evapotranspiraci\u00f3n) de Sudam\u00e9rica. Comprender estos mecanismos es esencial para predecir la respuesta de los ecosistemas, los cultivos y su riego, y asimismo para dise\u00f1ar estrategias de mitigaci\u00f3n de la sequ\u00eda, que tambi\u00e9n impacta al sector hidroel\u00e9ctrico.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Este estudio utiliza datos satelitales y de rean\u00e1lisis para identificar los procesos que vinculan las anomal\u00edas de la superficie terrestre con los modos oc\u00e9ano-atmosf\u00e9rica. Se estima el control que la humedad del suelo y la radiaci\u00f3n neta ejercen sobre la evapotranspiraci\u00f3n (clasificada en reg\u00edmenes limitados por agua o energ\u00eda). El estudio muestra que estos dos controladores locales de la evapotranspiraci\u00f3n se ven influenciados por la posici\u00f3n de la Zona de Convergencia Intertropical (ZCIT). Sin embargo, las anomal\u00edas de la evapotranspiraci\u00f3n se ven impulsadas por la fase de cada modo clim\u00e1tico, que altera la disponibilidad de agua y radiaci\u00f3n.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>El Modo Meridional del Atl\u00e1ntico (MMA) genera anomal\u00edas de viento cros-ecuatoriales que afectan la convergencia de humedad, lo que a su vez modifica la nubosidad, la precipitaci\u00f3n, la humedad del suelo, la disponibilidad de radiaci\u00f3n y, por consiguiente, la evapotranspiraci\u00f3n. Las anomal\u00edas presentan importantes diferencias geogr\u00e1ficas seg\u00fan la estaci\u00f3n analizada; migran desde el este en oto\u00f1o austral hacia la Amazon\u00eda central y el Orinoco occidental en primavera austral. Por lo tanto, el MMA impacta los piedemontes andinos en las cuencas del Orinoco y la Amazon\u00eda, que se ven afectados principalmente en la primavera austral.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>El Modo Ni\u00f1o Ecuatorial Atl\u00e1ntico (Atl3) afecta la evapotranspiraci\u00f3n en las Guayanas y el Orinoco oriental mediante la variabilidad de la presi\u00f3n y los vientos alisios, lo que a su vez afecta las condiciones hidrometeorol\u00f3gicas locales y la evapotranspiraci\u00f3n. Ambos modos atl\u00e1nticos afectan principalmente a regiones diferentes a las afectadas por El Ni\u00f1o\/Oscilaci\u00f3n del Sur (ENOS), aunque el noreste de Brasil y las Guayanas podr\u00edan experimentar efectos superpuestos. Por lo tanto, estos modos oc\u00e9ano-atmosf\u00e9ricos impactan los ciclos del agua, la energ\u00eda y el carbono.
