(2025; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.maapprogram.org\/amazon-flying-rivers\/\">MAAP #232<\/a>) tiene como objetivo sintetizar la informaci\u00f3n cient\u00edfica m\u00e1s actual sobre los&nbsp;<em>r\u00edos a\u00e9reos<\/em>&nbsp;en la Am\u00e9rica del Sur tropical y sus implicaciones en el posible \u201cpunto de no retorno\u201d (<em>tipping point<\/em>) de la Amazon\u00eda.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>En una primera parte, el trabajo examina el fen\u00f3meno de los r\u00edos a\u00e9reos, entendido como el transporte de humedad atmosf\u00e9rica a trav\u00e9s de la Amazon\u00eda, destacando su papel esencial en la conservaci\u00f3n del bioma. Se identifica, en particular, al suroeste amaz\u00f3nico y a los Andes tropicales (Per\u00fa y Bolivia; Figura 1) como las regiones m\u00e1s vulnerables a un posible&nbsp;<em>tipping point<\/em>&nbsp;asociado a la deforestaci\u00f3n, debido a su marcada dependencia del reciclaje de humedad.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A partir de datos de flujo atmosf\u00e9rico de vapor de agua, el estudio analiza las trayectorias estacionales de la humedad desde el Atl\u00e1ntico hacia estas zonas sensibles, mostrando que las rutas correspondientes a la estaci\u00f3n seca y a las fases de transici\u00f3n (seca a h\u00fameda y h\u00fameda a seca) atraviesan de manera significativa los frentes de deforestaci\u00f3n en la Amazon\u00eda central.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Los resultados indican que el riesgo de alcanzar un&nbsp;<em>tipping point<\/em>&nbsp;no es uniforme en toda la cuenca amaz\u00f3nica, sino que presenta una distribuci\u00f3n espacialmente localizada y se intensifica de manera particular por las perturbaciones en el transporte de humedad durante la estaci\u00f3n seca.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"824\" src=\"https:\/\/www.andex-rhp.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/TP_justFluxes_SA_spa-2-2-1024x824.jpg\" alt=\"Figura 1 (Figura 3 del documento original).
