Arias**\/<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sudam\u00e9rica, con su enorme diversidad clim\u00e1tica y geogr\u00e1fica, es un laboratorio natural para el desarrollo de la paleoclimatolog\u00eda. La regi\u00f3n cuenta con numerosos registros de alta resoluci\u00f3n que capturan cambios clim\u00e1ticos del pasado, como sedimentos marinos, lacustres y de fiordos, espeleotemas, testigos de hielo, anillos de \u00e1rboles, dep\u00f3sitos glaciales y e\u00f3licos, evidencias arqueol\u00f3gicas y documentos hist\u00f3ricos, entre otros.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>Las reconstrucciones paleoclim\u00e1ticas son herramientas fundamentales para comprender c\u00f3mo ha funcionado el sistema clim\u00e1tico terrestre y c\u00f3mo ha variado a lo largo del tiempo. A trav\u00e9s del an\u00e1lisis de indicadores naturales dependientes de factores clim\u00e1ticos -conocidos como &#8220;proxies paleoclim\u00e1ticos&#8221;-, estas reconstrucciones permiten extender nuestra perspectiva del clima m\u00e1s all\u00e1 de los registros instrumentales, abarcando per\u00edodos de siglos a millones a a\u00f1os.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>En particular, las reconstrucciones basadas en proxies para los \u00faltimos 2.000 a\u00f1os aportan informaci\u00f3n valiosa sobre la variabilidad clim\u00e1tica natural antes del periodo industrial y sobre c\u00f3mo las actividades humanas est\u00e1n afectando el clima presente. Por este motivo, las reconstrucciones paleoclim\u00e1ticas son esenciales no solo para entender el pasado, sino tambi\u00e9n para comprender el comportamiento clim\u00e1tico actual e interpretar las proyecciones clim\u00e1ticas en un contexto de cambio clim\u00e1tico y calentamiento global.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>En el trabajo \u201cThe South American climate during the last two millennia\u201d revisamos cerca de 150 reconstrucciones paleoclim\u00e1ticas desarrolladas en Sudam\u00e9rica para los \u00faltimos dos milenios, actualizando e integrando las revisiones realizadas previas para el continente. Esta s\u00edntesis examina los principales cambios clim\u00e1ticos continentales, en particular la Anomal\u00eda Clim\u00e1tica Medieval (MCA: Medieval Climate Anomaly), la Peque\u00f1a Edad de Hielo (LIA: Little Ice Age) y el Per\u00edodo C\u00e1lido Actual (CWP: Current Warm Period). Este trabajo fue desarrollado por un grupo de cient\u00edficas y cient\u00edficos de Sudam\u00e9rica, pertenecientes a instituciones de la regi\u00f3n.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>Nuestros resultados muestran que, a pesar de los avances significativos en el estudio del clima pasado en el continente, a\u00fan existen importantes vac\u00edos de conocimiento. Estas lagunas son especialmente notorias en regiones poco estudiadas y en fen\u00f3menos clim\u00e1ticos que a\u00fan no se comprenden completamente, lo que dificulta una visi\u00f3n integral de la variabilidad clim\u00e1tica a escala regional y continental.
