Los autores utilizaron un disdr\u00f3metro \u00f3ptico-l\u00e1ser y una estaci\u00f3n meteorol\u00f3gica compacta, instalados en el glaciar Huaytapallana a 4709 m s. n. m., para recopilar datos in\u00e9ditos <em>in situ<\/em> sobre los tipos de precipitaci\u00f3n (lluvia, nieve y granizo) y analizar su transformaci\u00f3n con el aumento de temperatura, bas\u00e1ndose en escenarios clim\u00e1ticos del modelo CMIP6.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Los resultados destacan que los tipos de precipitaci\u00f3n en la zona de estudio siguen ciclos diurnos y nocturnos, observando que la lluvia es predominante durante el d\u00eda, mientras que la nieve y el granizo ocurren con mayor frecuencia en la noche y a primeras horas de la ma\u00f1ana. Esto permiti\u00f3 modelar la distribuci\u00f3n de cada tipo de precipitaci\u00f3n en funci\u00f3n de la temperatura para simular sus cambios bajo los escenarios SSP2-4.5 y SSP5-8.5, que representan trayectorias de desarrollo moderado y de alta dependencia de combustibles f\u00f3siles, respectivamente.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>Los resultados m\u00e1s destacados de esta simulaci\u00f3n indican que un aumento de temperatura de 2 \u00b0C en ambos escenarios podr\u00eda reducir las precipitaciones en fase s\u00f3lida (nieve, granizo y graupel) a menos del 10 % del total de la precipitaci\u00f3n en comparaci\u00f3n con la actualidad. Este cambio de la precipitaci\u00f3n s\u00f3lida a l\u00edquida, debido al incremento de temperaturas (por ejemplo, una mayor proporci\u00f3n de lluvia en zonas glaciares), afectar\u00eda el balance de masa glaciar y contribuir\u00eda al retroceso glaciar en los Andes, con implicancias en los ciclos hidrol\u00f3gicos.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>Nuestros datos tambi\u00e9n sugieren interesantes puntos de discusi\u00f3n, como los diferentes impactos de la nieve, el granizo y el graupel sobre los procesos glaciares. Mientras que el impacto de la nieve sobre los glaciares \u2014contribuyendo a la acumulaci\u00f3n glaciar\u2014 est\u00e1 ampliamente documentado, pocos estudios abordan la contribuci\u00f3n del granizo y el graupel a estos sistemas. Esto se debe principalmente a la naturaleza de estos eventos, pero es necesario profundizar en esta l\u00ednea de investigaci\u00f3n. Otro aspecto a considerar es la presencia de la capa de fusi\u00f3n (melting layer) a una altura de 4700 m s. n. m., donde se tomaron nuestros datos.
