Anderson* y Jhan-Carlo Espinoza**\/<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>La Cuenca Amaz\u00f3nica, el sistema fluvial m\u00e1s grande del mundo, es reconocido por sus influencias en el clima global, su extraordinaria biodiversidad, y la riqueza cultural de sus poblaciones humanas. Estas caracter\u00edsticas son sostenidas por los numerosos flujos, reservorios, y formas de agua, y dependen de la interconectividad hidrol\u00f3gica entre los Andes, las llanuras Amaz\u00f3nicas, y el Oc\u00e9ano Atl\u00e1ntico.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Esta v\u00eda hidroclim\u00e1tica Andes-Amazonia-Atl\u00e1ntica (AAA) es un sistema fundacional para la investigaci\u00f3n, gesti\u00f3n, conservaci\u00f3n, y gobernanza de los sistemas dulceacu\u00edcolas de la Amazonia. Es un sistema multidimensional y multiescalar que integra la din\u00e1mica del \u2018agua verde\u2019\u2014precipitaci\u00f3n que regresa a la atm\u00f3sfera como evapotranspiraci\u00f3n\u2014y \u2018agua azul\u2019\u2014precipitaci\u00f3n que se divide en agua superficial y agua subterr\u00e1nea. Por muchos a\u00f1os, la comunidad cient\u00edfica ha enfocado su investigaci\u00f3n en la importancia de los bosques amaz\u00f3nicos y la importancia de las conexiones Andes-Amazon\u00eda por medio de v\u00edas fluviales. No obstante, la v\u00eda hidroclim\u00e1tica AAA ofrece una perspectiva geogr\u00e1fica m\u00e1s amplia y que merece reconocimiento por los gobiernos de pa\u00edses amaz\u00f3nicos, el sector privado, y la comunidad cient\u00edfica. En ese sentido, un equipo de investigadores interdisciplinario public\u00f3 recientemente un art\u00edculo de tipo \u201cperspectiva\u201d en la revista PNAS<sup>1<\/sup>, donde se describe la v\u00eda hidroclim\u00e1tica AAA, se analizan sus cambios recientes y se plantean recomendaciones para futuros estudios.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Algunas caracter\u00edsticas sobresalientes de la v\u00eda hidroclim\u00e1tica AAA que se destacan en el art\u00edculo:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>El R\u00edo Amazonas es la fuente m\u00e1s grande de descarga de agua continental al oc\u00e9ano, con una contribuci\u00f3n promedio anual de 6,600 km3\/yr, la cual equivale a ~20% de la descarga mundial y ~50% de la descarga al Oc\u00e9ano Atl\u00e1ntico.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>La descarga de sedimentos por el R\u00edo Amazonas representa ~40% del sedimento que llega al Oc\u00e9ano Atl\u00e1ntico e influye fuertemente en la regi\u00f3n costera del noreste de Am\u00e9rica del Sur. Gran cantidad de este sedimento que llega al Oc\u00e9ano Atl\u00e1ntico proviene de los Andes.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Los r\u00edos atmosf\u00e9ricos, alimentados por el reciclaje de agua sobre la Amazonia, exportan una cantidad de agua enorme a la atm\u00f3sfera, ~6,400 km3\/yr. Esta cantidad es casi igual a la descarga del R\u00edo Amazonas al Oc\u00e9ano Atl\u00e1ntico, e influye fuertemente en los patrones de lluvia sobre el continente suramericano, dentro y fuera de la Cuenca Amaz\u00f3nica, principalmente sobre los Andes tropicales, siendo clave para la seguridad h\u00eddrica, alimentaria y energ\u00e9tica de pa\u00edses como Bolivia, Per\u00fa, Ecuador y Colombia.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>Estudios recientes han alertado que la v\u00eda hidroclim\u00e1tica AAA y sus procesos interconectados est\u00e1n en un momento de cambio. En particular, se viene constatando una intensificaci\u00f3n del ciclo hidrol\u00f3gico, con un aumento en la frecuencia de sequ\u00edas (principalmente en el sur de la cuenca) e inundaciones (principalmente en el norte). Asimismo, la evapotranspiraci\u00f3n ha disminuido significativamente en zonas asociadas a procesos de deforestaci\u00f3n y a un periodo seco cada vez m\u00e1s extenso. Estos cambios son evaluados en el art\u00edculo perspectiva de PNAS.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Estos cambios tienen la posibilidad de alterar los sistemas socio-ecol\u00f3gicos de la Amazonia. Aproximadamente 47 millones de personas viven en la Cuenca Amaz\u00f3nica; este n\u00famero incluye alrededor de 2.2 millones de personas ind\u00edgenas quienes pertenecen a por lo menos 410 grupos \u00e9tnicos distintos. Los sistemas dulceacu\u00edcolas influyen casi todos los aspectos de la vida humana, dado que son la fuente principal de prote\u00edna, mediado de la pesca; las v\u00edas m\u00e1s importantes para el transporte de personas y productos; y proveedores de agua. Adem\u00e1s, el flujo estacional de las aguas amaz\u00f3nicas alinea con las pr\u00e1cticas sociales, econ\u00f3micas, y culturales de las comunidades ribere\u00f1as.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Considerando la importancia de la v\u00eda hidroclim\u00e1tica AAA y su susceptibilidad a cambios, el art\u00edculo ha identificado cuatro recomendaciones para futuros estudios:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Expansi\u00f3n del monitoreo cient\u00edfico de los componentes del sistema AAA;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Coordinaci\u00f3n internacional para mejor colecci\u00f3n y manejo de datos cient\u00edficos;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Fortalecimiento de la colaboraci\u00f3n interdisciplinaria entre cient\u00edficos, gestores; ambientales, y comunidades amaz\u00f3nicas;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Adopci\u00f3n de pol\u00edticas de deforestaci\u00f3n-cero, restauraci\u00f3n de bosques, y mitigaci\u00f3n del cambio clim\u00e1tico en la Amazonia.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>El art\u00edculo es de libre acceso, y se puede acceder <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pnas.org\/doi\/10.1073\/pnas.2306229121\">aqu\u00ed<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p>* Institute of Environment, Department of Earth and Environment, Florida International University, Miami.<br>**Univ.
